From Jaymin Kim, President of the Manchu Studies Group:
Dear friends,
Happy New Year! I hope 2026 is off to a good start for all of you.
I have a few important updates for our community.
1. AAS meeting time and location: We have secured Vancouver Convention Centre, West Meeting Room 219 from 7:15 to 9:15 on Friday, March 13th. We hope to see many of you there, and please feel free to spread the word for anyone who might be interested. Everyone is welcome to attend, and we love seeing faces old and new!
2. Electing the next board: Elvin Meng has kindly volunteered to serve another term as the website editor! We are still looking for volunteers and nominations for the president and the secretary positions. These are three-year terms that would last from 2026 to 2029. If you are interested in volunteering for a position or nominating someone, please reach out to me. We will announce the nominations ahead of the AAS meeting in Vancouver, where we will hold a formal vote.
3. Meeting agenda: At our last meeting, we had lightning talks where our members briefly introduced their research for five minutes. I would like to continue it this year as well if there is interest. Please reach out to me if you are interested in participating! In addition, if there are any discussion topics or announcements, please do not hesitate to email me. We have two months until our meeting, and we should have plenty of time to include them in the meeting agenda in the next month and a half.
All my best,
Jaymin (jaykim AT rice DOT edu)
