Harvard Summer Manchu

The Harvard University Summer School is pleased to offer an intensive one-month introduction to the Manchu language and Manchu studies in summer 2013. The workshop is designed with the needs of the beginner in mind, but is also suitable for those with some previous exposure to literary Manchu (either through coursework or self-study) who would like to refresh their skills. Morning meetings four times a week focus on language and translation; afternoon meetings twice a week provide a survey of primary and secondary sources in Manjuristics. Knowledge of literary Chinese is expected. Offered for graduate credit only; enrollment is open to MA/PhD students and faculty alike, regardless of home institution. Course size is limited to 15.

More information is available at www.summer.harvard.edu, or go directly here. Interested students with questions may also contact the instructor directly at [email protected]. Registration for the Harvard Summer School opens 4 March 2013.
